About Makiko Kobayashi

From Japan to Atlanta — Inspiring the Next Generation Through Dance
Makiko Kobayashi is the founder of Next Stage Dance Studio in Johns Creek, Georgia, as well as a professional dancer, choreographer, and dance educator. With over 15 years of dance experience, Makiko has trained, performed, and taught in both Japan and the United States.
Her passion for dance began at the age of seven when she discovered Hip Hop in Japan. After graduating from the Dance Performance Program at Nippon Engineering College, Maki began her professional career as both a dancer and instructor.
She spent nearly 9 years with Next Japan Inc., founded by legendary dancer and choreographer SAM of TRF, where she taught students of all ages while performing in numerous live shows, sporting events, and professional productions. Throughout her career, Maki has performed at a variety of major events, including NBA-related performances, international sporting events, entertainment productions, and large-scale live shows.
These experiences shaped her belief that dance is much more than learning choreography—it is a powerful way to build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and self-expression.
Teaching Philosophy
